Living Water · Isaiah 55:1–7
Come to the Waters
God's invitation is open to everyone who is thirsty, and it costs you nothing, because Someone else paid the price.
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat” (Isaiah 55:1). Isaiah pictures a marketplace where the merchant gives everything away.
Big idea
Grace is free to us because it was costly to Jesus.
Notes
- The invitation is for everyone. “Everyone who thirsts” leaves no one out.
- We spend ourselves on what does not satisfy. “Why do you spend money for what is not bread?” (v. 2). Success, approval, and pleasure never fill the soul.
- Seek the Lord while He may be found. God promises abundant pardon to the one who turns to Him (vv. 6–7). Today is the day to respond.
Reflect
- What have you been “buying” to satisfy your thirst?
- What would it look like to receive God’s grace as a gift instead of trying to earn it?
